Courageously Embracing Growth: Healing Hearts, Honoring Stories

Rita Rippentrop, LCPC
Owner, Clinical Therapist

Welcome to Courageous Counseling Services!

As a clinician, I strive to meet my clients where they are, to hear their story, and participate with them in finding ways to accept, heal and grow. I will inquire more about what has happened to them rather than what is wrong with them. While I am a person of faith, I will defer to your comfort if and how we would integrate spirituality into your sessions. I will in no way require this to be a part of our time together.  I welcome the opportunity to sit with individuals living with anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma and identity concerns.

I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years, as a clinician, group facilitator, conflict resolution ministry, school counselor, mental health awareness coalitions, and have held some leadership positions in community based mental health organizations.

Individuals, couples, groups, ages 14 and up.

Open to clinical supervision or consultation for professional therapists or masters level students.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Illinois) with a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, and telehealth approved in Florida.

Scott Yoo
MSW, LCSW, CADC

My name is Scott, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). As I've deepened my work in the helping profession, I've come to learn and respect that each person’s journey is uniquely their own. My approach is centered on meeting you where you are. I believe in focusing on what has happened to you, rather than what’s wrong with you. I’m here to walk with you through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction, and I’m committed to creating a space where you can explore and process your experiences and emotions at your own pace.

I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including residential and outpatient care, where I’ve supported individuals navigating addiction, mental health issues, and trauma. While I say my focus has been addiction, the term is quite encompassing of many other issues. This includes working with trauma, grief and loss, anger, and marital issues.

I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University and am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). My career has spanned both adult and adolescent populations, and I’ve had the honor of working in diverse therapeutic environments, including providing clinical supervision. Regardless of therapy or clinical supervision, I aim to approach each session with the goal of offering support and insight that honors your unique experience.

If you’re ready to start your journey toward healing, I’d love the opportunity to work together. Please feel free to reach out.

Individuals, Couples, Groups, ages 16 and up.
